My involvement with the visual arts has been a life long adventure. Originally from the extreme northwest corner of the state
of Iowa, my family encouraged and supported artistic expression from an early age on.
I earned a B.A. in Art Education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1981 with a triple emphasis in drawing, crafts
and art history. I have taught 6-12th grade art at Denver, IA since the fall of 1989 and previously taught K-12 art for eight
years at Cedar Valley Community School in central Iowa.
Students continue to inspire and surprise me as they experience discovery through the visual arts. The visual arts allow
for students with different learning styles, interests and capabilities. Everyone can succeed and it's that look of success
that brings joy to what I do.
Interests I have away from the classroom include creating art, genealogy, gardening and travel. It's all these experiences
and more that I plan to bring to my art and efforts to inspire students.
